What are the characteristics of a German Shorthaired Pointer?

German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP) are full of energy and are ready to go anytime, yet still friendly and very sociable.  They are predominately known for their outgoing, intelligent, trainability, and fun loving nature.  The correct color for the (GSP) is solid liver or a combination of liver and white such as liver and white ticked, liver patched and white ticked, or liver roan.  They were breed to be hunting dogs so they like to stay active and be of use to their owners, whether it be for retrieving or just as a family pet.
